Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) says the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Ministry of Defense (MoD) owe a total of at least two billion Afghanis to investors.

Deputy of ACCI, Khan Jan Alkozay said, “the ministries of Interior and Defense owe two billion AFN that includes 200 companies.”

Alkozay declared the existence of corruption, taxes and lack of government’s plans have slowed the investment process in the country.

Executive Officer, Abdullah Abdullah said the difficulties and problems of investors are more than what it said.

He called the hyper taxes and partiality in contracts the other challenges. “the contracts allocate to friends and relatives.”

Afghan second-vice President and the Attorney General also considered the existence of corruption the main obstacle against investors.

Second vice president, Sarwar Danish said, “corruption is the biggest obstacle against investment in the country.”

Attorney General, Farid Ahmad said, “we should provide security and impunity through fighting corruption and creates investment fields in Afghanistan.”

Analyst believe with the formation of National Unity Government the investment opportunities badly wasted and the current government does not honestly support the investors.
