MoD Confirms Withdraw of ANA Forces from Central Baghlan District

Officials in Ministry of Defense have confirmed the Afghan National Army (ANA) will withdraw from the Mangalha, Alawuddin military bases in Central Baghlan District of Baghlan province and would hand it over to Afghan police forces, insisting that the issue is still on the paper and no practical step was taken.

Ministry of Defense Deputy Spokesman Mohammad Radmanish said, “ The issue is still on the paper, first of all we would review the negative and positive perspectives, the National interests would expect to save the military bases.”

Meanwhile Provincial of Governor Baghlan Abdul Satar Barez said, “We will never hand over any bases to the insurgents, if any decision is taken the provincial Governor office would be on the page, the central Government has yet to respond on the issue.”

Ministry of Interior Affair Spokesman Sediq Sediqee said, “We had planned to use the following Afghan military forces in Chardara district of Kunduz and Dand-i-Ghori district of Baghlan to create cordon for Taliban, there is no decision exists to hand over the bases to Taliban.”

Presence of insurgents at Baghlan could easily hurt the neighboring provinces of Afghanistan even north part of the country.

Former Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Mirza Mohammad Yarmand said, “ I m sure that it was an assessment launched by the security officials to review the capability of the enemies, and to use the following forces in part for further and ensuring security.”

More over the Baghlan provincial council members are in deep concerns over withdrawing of the Afghan National Army from the districts, saying fears are in rise if the following district control doesn’t fall into Taliban hands, insisting Dand-i- Ghori control was handed over to Taliban based on the mutual memorandum of understanding between the Government of Taliban, now its counted as the center of coordination and training of Taliban.
