MoD fuel contracts not signed based on law: Afzali

Members of the integrity watch Afghanistan have urged that fuel contracts for Ministry of Defense hasn’t been signed based on the law and in a transparent way, saying the bidding process should have been opened and transparent to all companies to attend the process.

Head of the integrity watch Afghanistan Sayed Ikram Afzali said,” two main factors declare that the Ministry of Defense fuel contracts and bidding process hasn’t been transparent and accordingly to law, no information was published about the bidding process and which company won the bidding.”

Officials in Procurement department have rejected all the allegations saying the fuel contracts for Ministry of Defense has been signed based on the law.

“Contracts were signed under the law supervision, what the procurement department implemented was based on the law, the process was transparent, according to law we can’t share the whole information which will create risks, but we will share some necessary information through our website Technical advisor of Procurement department Mohammad Suhail Kakar said.”

According to documents accessed by Ariana News one litter of fuel was sold to Ministry of Defense 90 cents ,though if other companies were informed on bidding process the price of one litter was 60 cent.
