MoD to strengthen ANA in long-term programs
Officials in ministry of defense emphasized that they have special programs in all sectors especially in intelligence, aviation and engineering that the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces can independently defend the country.
Afghan security forces, especially ANA have the greatest security responsibility in the country.
NATO’s new mission for supporting ANA has recently begun which includes equipping, training and counselling to Afghan security forces.
Deputy spokesman of ministry of defense, Dawlat Waziri said, “We expect NATO to provide engineering equipment and train our force”.
Waziri noted that however, equipping Afghan army takes time but efforts are underway.
Meanwhile, a number of military analysts are said to believe that Afghan officials should have their own programs to strengthen the Afghan forces.
They added that Afghan forces should not wait for foreign aids but they should take practical steps.
Afghan security forces now have a wide creditability among citizens in the country.
