MoFA Questions Treaties Signed With Foreign Countries

Some governmental officials signs agreements with foreign countries without having the required knowledge of the agreement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan (MoFA) said on Monday.

Officials emphasized that these officials have failed to design, proceed, and implement the treaties and international conventions signed between the Afghanistan and foreign countries.

Afghanistan has signed hundreds of treaties and strategic and security cooperation pacts with eleven countries.

“Some of the governmental institutions and our colleagues did not had an active role in designing of the treaties and most often the treaties are designed by the foreign countries representatives and international organizations and the Afghan government representatives have signed these treaties without having the required knowledge,” Nasir Ahmad Andisha, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Finance and Administrative Affairs of the country said.

A number of lawmakers also criticize about the implementation of the international treaties signed.

Dawoud Kalakani an Afghan lawmaker and member of the international relation committee of Afghan Parliament said,” treaties have lots of defects, but we approve them because of our national interest. Especially we signed an agreement with Russia blindly”.

Recently Afghanistan joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the experts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan believe that implementation of the international treaties and regional agreements we have singed is very useful for the country.
