At least 151 Taliban fighters were killed by government forces during 12 days of fighting in eastern Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan, the police chief of Kunar province said.

Local officials said a group of Taliban militants, reportedly disguised in Afghan army uniform, attacked a security check post in the province.

The volatile border area is dominated by militants who often use improvised explosive devices to carry out attacks.

Earlier, Gen Raheel has promised that Pakistan’s cooperation in coordination of operations against terrorism will increase.
