More Than 40 Taliban Killed in Afghan Forces Joint Operations

Afghanistan Ministry of Defense (MoD) says at least 41 Taliban militants were killed and 36 others were wounded in joint offensive operations by Afghan security forces in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours.

MoD in a press release said, “Afghan security forces launched operations in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Paktia, Paktika, Oruzgan, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Jawzjan, Kunduz and Helmand. They killed 24 Taliban, seized arms, weapons and vehicles in Chardara district of Kunduz. Another five Taliban killed and 3 wounded in Ghormach district of Faryab and many arms and weapons were seized. Afghan forces also killed 11 terrorists in Chora district of Oruzgan province.”

The Press release further added, “at least two terrorists were killed and two others wounded in Nahr Saraj district of Helmand, one terrorist killed in Laghman and another two injured in Aghcha district of Jawzjan”.

Afghan security forces have beefed up security operations against militants recently as the war-weary Afghans have been witnessing a surge in attacks by Taliban fighters and Islamic State (IS) affiliates across the country.
