The ongoing security situation in the country is very shocking and President Ghani should create a new war strategy, chairman of the lower house of parliament said on Monday.

Chairman of parliament, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi has declared that the regional intelligence attempts to intensify war in Afghanistan and uses any option to reach the target, but the government should be fully prepared against these conspiracies.

“War has been intensified in several provinces of the country, and we are witnessing difficult situations. We urge the president to find a new war strategy that can be a response against these threats,” said Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, chairman of the parliament.

Meanwhile, a number of parliament members emphasized on addressing the problems of security situations in insecure provinces, particularly Kunduz and Helmand provinces; otherwise they would fall to insurgent groups in the nearest time.

“Kunduz province has a critical situation and the armed oppositions have taken the control of many parts. The war has been intensified and there is the possibility of provinces to collapse if the problems not addressed,” said Fatima Aziz, representative of Kunduz said.

Representative of Kandahar, Shekiba Hashemi also said, “Insecurity has reached to its peak, particularly in Helmand province. These problems should be seriously addressed.”

The security situation worsens, as 5,100 civilians were killed or maimed in Afghanistan in the first six months of 2016.

The situation in the southern region is worsening as the militants assault security checkpoints in the provinces of Helmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan.

Among these provinces, Helmand is in the worst situation coming under Taliban’s pressure in recent days.

The situation in Uruzgan is worst for the last 15 years, as head of the provincial council describes, referring to the conflicts since the Taliban’s regime was overthrown by the US-led international invasion in 2001.

He has estimated that 200 policemen and soldiers were killed only in May, saying that 300 more were injured.

Security forces are doing their best to keep the control of the area, but they can’t because logistics supplies are not delivered on time, according to this provincial official.
