MPs Stress on Addressing Legitimate Demands of Afghan Protesters

A number of Parliament Members say the government is obliged to address the legitimate demands of Afghan protesters and ends the scourge of the capital inhabitants.

The Afghan lawmakers declared protesting is the right of every Afghan citizens, but it should not make challenges for the other millions of residents.

“The tents of protesters have caused many challenges for Kabul residents which the issue must be solved as soon as possible,” said Muhammad Nader Katwazai, representative of Paktia in Parliament.

The parliamentary groups supporting the national interests and peace convoy presented their scheme drafts to the government for solving the current challenges in the capital.

“Killing protesters is not acceptable and their perpetrators should be punished and the recent incidents in Kabul must be investigated and share them with public,” said Zahir Qadir, a member of parliamentary group for peace convoy.

“Our demands from all parties are to stop focusing on their personal interests and work for the national interests,” said Kamal Naser Ousoli, another member of the parliamentary group.

The first deputy speaker of the parliament also emphasized that the main perpetrators of Kabul bloody incidents should be identify and punish in the nearest time.

At the other side, chairman of the Lower House of Parliament expressed concern over the performances of budget institutions, saying nearly six months passed since the beginning of the fiscal year, but less than 15 percent of development budget has been spent for the country.

The ministers of finance, economic, justice, public works and water, energy were summoned to Parliament due to delaying the documents of procurement development projects.

However, the Minister of Finance said the budget institutions must do further efforts in making national and procurement programs that the implementation process does not face any delay.

But, the head of national procurement linked the delay in development projects to the lack of capacity in sector ministries.

The Lower House summoned 17 ministers due to failure in spending budgets and disqulified seven of them, the fate of ministers in this year will be revealed by time.
