Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Omar released an Eid message on Wednesday in which he legitimates peace talks and insists on the unification of Jahadi groups.

He supports peace process, though he did not specifically mention last week’s meeting with government representatives in Pakistan, saying peaceful interaction with the enemies is not prohibited in our religion which shows a huge flexibility in his language.

“Concurrently with armed Jihad, political endeavors and peaceful pathways for achieving these sacred goals is a legitimate Islamic principle,” he said in a statement posted on the Taliban’s official website.

Adding, our objective behind political endeavor with our “own Afghan” is to bring an end to the occupation in our country and he will defend their legal rights through political endeavors and that is why they have opened Qatar political office.

Taliban leader rejects Pakistan and Iran influence over this group saying,” Some circles accuse Mujahidin of being agents of Pakistan and Iran” while it is a “false accusation” because they were looking for friendly relation not only with Iran and Pakistan but with all regional and world countries.

He further encourages his fighters to avoid civilian losses and causalities while they are performing attacks.

The statement comes as Afghan government and Taliban hold first officially acknowledged peace talks in Pakistan concluded with an agreement to meet again after the holy month of Ramadan.
