Municipality fails to halt construction of illegal high-rise buildings

The head of controlling over basic buildings department in Kabul’s municipality said that the municipality has failed to prevent the construction of illegal buildings.

Engineer Sarwar, The head of controlling over basic buildings noted that the armed powerful also beats the staffs of this institution in some cases.

The department also said that more than half of the high-rise buildings in Kabul have been constructed in non-standard form against the law.

There is overwhelming evidence of a proliferation of poorly constructed, illegal townships across the country with efforts ongoing to execute more housing schemes on usurped lands.

According to a report of Afghanistan’s Lands Office, illegal land-grabbers have usurped 230,810 jerbs of lands and constructed 228 illegal townships on them throughout the country. There are details from Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Parwan and Ghazni.

The department of controlling over basic buildings urged the government to support Kabul municipalty to half these illegal actions.
