A media supporting agency in Afghanistan, NAI, criticized the previous government for not addressing the cases of violence against journalists.

NAI director Siddiqullah Tawhidi in a press conference on Wednesday said only 3 of 43 cases of violence against journalists have been addressed so far.

He called on the new government to prosecute perpetrators of violence against journalists and reopen the murder cases of reporters.

“The previous government didn’t act responsibly regarding to violence against journalists. Such cases were totally ignored,” a reporter said.

The journalists called on the newly-established unity government to put an end to the challenges being faced by the reporters.
