National Cricket Team prepares for 2016 World Cup qualifiers

Afghanistan National Cricket Team will appear in two friendly matches to be prepared for its powerful presence in 2016 World Cup qualifiers.

The team will face against Jersey team in its first friendly match which will be held in England.

Afghan cricketers will also play their second friendly match against Hong Kong team on Tuesday night.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team is in the 2016 World Cup qualifying B group beside Netherlands, the United Arabic Emirates, Scotland, Kenya, Oman and Canada and on Thursday in its first match will face the Dutch national team.

Afghanistan’s progress means that Netherlands, UAE, Scotland, Kenya, Namibia, Canada, Uganda, Hong Kong, Nepal and Papua New Guinea will have to compete for the last two Associate berths.

Cricket has been played in Afghanistan since the mid 19th century, but it is only in recent years that the national team has become successful.

 The Afghanistan Cricket Federation was formed in 1995 and became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001and a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003.
