A U.S. military service member died as a result of injuries, and six others were wounded after a helicopter crashed in eastern Logar province of Afghanistan late on Friday, the NATO-led resolute Support mission said in a statement.

“We can confirm the crash was not the result of enemy action. We have full accountability of all personnel and the crash site has been secured. Six other U.S. crew members were injured in the crash and are all receiving medical treatment, it said in a statement.

“Resolute Support is investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine more facts and will release relevant details as appropriate,” the statement added.

The incident came amid the plan to increase the number of  U.S. troops in Afghanistan as part of the Trump administration’s new strategy to step up the fight against the Taliban and other insurgent groups in the country.
