NDS Detained Taliban Shadow District Governor in Nengarhar

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s intelligence agency has detained a shadow district governor of Taliban group along with five aides in eastern Nengarhar province of Afghanistan.

A statement released by the NDS on Sunday states that Mawlawi Rafiullah, the Taliban shadow governor for Nazyan district was arrested during a special operation.

According to the statement, the group was involved in terrorist activities in the province.

Mawlawi Rafiullah has confessed he was graduated from Farouqiya Madrassa in Peshawar city of Pakistan.

The statement further says they have detained another two people in Nengarhar with two rounds of megnatic bombs.

Nengarhar is among the volatile districts in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban and the rival group called the Islamic State or Daesh are operating actively in a number of its districts.
