The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s intelligence agency has released an eight year old child in Kabul and has detained the culprit.

The child was abducted by a kidnapper named Fahim son of Khan Mohammad from 17th district of Kabul and was taken to Estarghich village of Qarabagh district in Kabul for twenty days, NDS statement released on Sunday said.

According to the security sources the kidnapper was asking for an amount of $100,000 to release the child.

The child was handed over to his family members after he was rescued.

This comes as kidnapping by insurgent groups and illegal armed gangs have increased in Afghanistan recently.
