New members of Selecting Committee introduced by NUG: Sources

According to the recent bargaining of National Unity Government (NUG) leaders with the members of parliament and other figures, Four new members of the Selecting Committee have introduced as commissioner nominees for electoral bodies.

Some sources in condition of anonymity told to Ariananews that Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, chairman of Wolesi Jirga, Abdul Hadi Muslimyar, chairman of Senate, Sima Samar, head of Human Rights commission and Ahmad Shah Mushahed, head of administrative reform commission are the new four members.

However, The National Unity Government has not officially confirmed it so far.

Meanwhile, three members of civil society who are Zarqa Yaftali, Fahim Dashti and Naeem Ayoub Zada will remain as members of the committee.

A member of the selecting committee says that despite the new members that introduced, there is the possibility that the members take political actions.

“The majority members of this committee are political figures and I hope to hold sessions in public,” said Naeem Ayoub Zada, member of the selecting committee.

Previously, the Selecting Committee has received nearly 400 requests for nomination of commissioners in electoral bodies.

The second vice president has also said that simultaneously with President’s decree on electoral reforms, there will be also some changes in the selecting committee.
