Newly Electoral Commissioners Swore in After Days of Delay

Leaders of the National Unity Government of Afghanistan have introduced the new electoral commissioners for the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Independent Election complains commission (IECC) on Tuesday during oath taken ceremony.

In a statement President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said, “The new electoral commissioners were chosen during a transparent process.”

Meanwhile Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah demanded the newly elect commissioners to carry out the assignments with independency and do not let any pressures to discourage you all.

After days of efforts finally the below persons were introduced as the new elect commissioners for the Afghanistan Election system:

For the Independent Election Commission ( IEC ) : Najibullah Ahmadzai, Abdul Qadir Quraishi, Maliha Hassan, Wasima Badghisi for 5 years and Rafiullah Bidar, Gulajan Sayad, and Maazullah Dawlati were appointed for upcoming 3 years.

And for the Independent Election complains commissions (IECC) Ghulam Dastgeer Hedayat, Abdul Basir Fayez, Ali Reza Rohani for 5 years and Humaira Haqmal and Abdul Aziz Aryayee were picked for 3 years.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said, “After lots of efforts we could introduce the new elect commissioners for the electoral bodies, whom were chosen during a transparent process, I declare the following step as important for further stabilization and holding of the upcoming transparent Elections.”

“The newly elect commissioners are responsible to support the Election commission’s performance, and should carry out the assignment with more Independency.” President Ghani during his speech said.

The new Electoral commissioners were chosen after lots of consultation was made.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said, “President Ghani and I had basic consultation with each other on picking and introducing of the new commissioners, and this was one of the reformation article of the National Unity Government political agreement we have taken in it forward now.”

Further he has insisted that all the Election commissioners should continue to work with full confidence and independency.

Both leaders of the National Unity Government demanded the newly elect commissioners for the Electoral bodies to select the head and deputy and secretariat for smoothing the upcoming process.
