The chief executive officer of the National Unity Government has urged the peace talks with the Taliban must not take place behind the closed doors.

In a gathering Sunday in Kabul, Abdullah Abdullah stressed that no deal would be made on peace negotiations with the rebel groups.

Saying that peace process must be clear to the entire nation, Abdullah warned any clandestine deal on peace would result in failure of the government.

“The most important thing in the peace talks is that the rights of Afghan citizens must not be jeopardized,” Abdullah noted. “The process must be clear to everyone in order to reach a fruitful result.”

He stated Afghans could not achieve peace if any deal was made on the rights of the citizens.
