National Union of Afghanistan Workers and Employees (NUAWE) expressed concern over unemployment of millions of eligible Afghan youths in the country.

Head of NUAWE, Maroof Qaderi concerned over unemployment saying unemployment is increasing in the country.

Unemployment in the country caused many Afghan youths take refugee to the neighboring countries or other countries of the world illegally which may cost their lives too.

“After withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, unemployment is increasing day by day and delay in announcement of new cabinet caused investments reduce in Afghanistan” Qaderi noted.

In the meantime, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs denied the issue and emphasized that unemployment decreases from 34 percent to 25 percent in the last five years.

The acting minister of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Wasel Noor Mahmand said, “Statistics released last week indicates that unemployment rate dropped by 25 percent.”

At the same time, a number of Kabul residents concerning the situation of employment said that the national unity government did not act as its commitments.

It has been said that after withdrawal of NATO and ISAF troops from Afghanistan, electoral controversy and delay in formation of new cabinet unemployment has risen to unprecedented levels in Afghanistan.
