A number of Afghan analysts are said to believe that the leaders of National Unity Government (NUG) have no common understanding on peace process.

They say that foreign countries have monopolized the government and the differences and incoordination between NUG leaders would destroy the path to peace.

“The Afghan government is really monopolized by a special group which includes Pakistan, Saudi and England. Currently, the views of President Ghani and Hekmatyar are rolling in the constitution,” said Jawid Kohestani, a military analyst.

Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has recently said that there will be no peace in the country through secret deals with the Taliban.

“The recent remarks by the Chief Executive show that there is not a common viewpoint between the government leaders,” said Ahmad Saeedi, a political analyst.

This comes as President Ghani has recently offered recognition of the Taliban as a legitimate political group as part of a proposed political process that he said could lead to talks aimed at ending the war in the country.
