NUG Urges US New President for More Efforts in Peace Process

The National Unity Government (NUG) leaders have called on US new president, Donald Trump for further efforts in peace process and strengthening of Afghan security forces.

NUG calls the United States one of the strategic friends of Afghanistan and emphasized on further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.

“We congratulate Donald Trump as US president. America is one of the best strategic partners of Afghanistan and we hope for a better relations,” said Shah Hussain Murtazawi, President’s deputy spokesman.

The government demands further efforts for reviving the reconciliation process with Taliban and support of Afghan security forces.

“Our demand from United State is to support Afghan security forces to become more strengthen and continues cooperation in peace process,” said Jawid Faisal, CEO deputy spokesman.

While the Afghan government expresses optimism on the continuation of US policy that the new president, Donald Trump has not announced his foreign policy about Afghanistan so far.

Donald Trump won the US presidential election early this morning in a stunning victory that sent shockwaves around the world.

The Republican took the key swing states of Florida, North Carolina and Ohio early this morning, as he marched towards the White House.

Mr Trump pledged that he would be “president for all Americans” in his New York victory speech.
