One Afghan soldier killed, six injured in clashes with Pakistani forces

An Afghan border policeman was killed and six others wounded in clashes with Pakistani forces last night in Torkham border crossing, senior Afghan official said.

The exchange of fire took place on Sunday night at around 9:00 pm and continued for hours between the Afghan and Pakistani forces over the building of installations in Torkham by Pakistan.

Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan who was speaking at the council of ministers on Monday said that Pakistan wanted to build new installations and Afghan Border Forces didn’t allow it which Pakistan went further and fired towards Afghan Forces.

“We had an agreement that new installations in that area should be discussed and mutually agreed according to the international law,” he added.

He continued that Afghanistan is willing to discuss this issue through diplomatic channels.

Afghan leader also praised the country security forces for their bravery and sacrifices in defense of their homeland and reasoned that Afghanistan has the right to protect and defend its sovereignty and integrity.

“We have proved that we are able of protecting our homeland and our people, Afghan CEO said,” the current fight Pakistan started doesn’t help anyone’s interest.”

According to the reports, currently a ceasefire have been agreed between the two sides, but the border is now closed and the government of Afghanistan has put the country’s army on alert after the clash erupted.
