Three militants attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, Pakistan’s army said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan army said that weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed militants, Dawn newspaper reported.

The ISPR went on to say that last night militants from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani border post in Spinwam area of KP’s North Waziristan district.

It said that a soldier was killed in the attack, and militants also suffered considerable losses.

“Pakistan has consistently been asking Interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. Interim Afghan government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan,” the ISPR said.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has previously denied claims that the Afghan soil is used in attacks against Pakistan.
