Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jelani met with Iran’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, Hassan Kazmi Qomi on Monday in Islamabad.

Jelani underscored Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and emphasized the need for enhanced coordination for regional stability.

He also underlined the critical role of neighbouring countries of Afghanistan to achieve the vision of a peaceful and stable region.

The four-member delegation from Iran travelled to Islamabad for talks on Afghanistan on Monday, diplomatic sources confirmed earlier in the day.

The delegation which includes Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi’s Special Envoy on Afghanistan Hassan Kazmi Qomi has an important role in policy making on Afghanistan.

Qomi also met with Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Asif Durrani.

Both countries have reservations about Afghanistan territory being used against their respective countries, sources said.

Daesh claimed responsibility for the recent deadly attack in Iran’s Kerman city.

Pakistan has also claimed that TTP uses Afghanistan soil.
