Pakistan’s Loyalty Questioned Again after Shelling on Kunar Province

As Kabul and Islamabad discuss launching of joint operations against the insurgents hidden across the Durand line, Pakistan shells artillery rockets over eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the Afghan Chief Executive said on Monday that Pakistan will never be loyal to Afghanistan.

“Before the arrival of Pakistani delegation to Afghanistan we said that there is no hope for the improvement of relations between the two countries, because Pakistan has never acted against what it has promised and the same thing happened this time,” said Javid Faisal, deputy spokesman for CEO Abdullah Abdullah.

Experts also believe that travelling of officials between the two countries will have no result since it has been proven useless in the past.

“The Afghan government efforts in diplomatic relations with Pakistan was effective, but sending the recent delegation to Pakistan and accepting Pakistan’s delegation to Kabul were mistakes,” said Shekib Muntazeri, an Afghan expert in the international relations studies.

An official in the Afghan defense ministry warns that if Pakistan denies action against terrorists the country will be isolated more and more.

“Pakistan have to stop supporting terrorists and shelling rockets into our territory; otherwise, Pakistan will be isolated,” said Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the defense ministry.

After a series of deadly attacks, Kabul sent two high-ranking security officials to Pakistan where they provided top Pakistani officials “undeniable evidence” which proves that Kabul attacks were planned in Pakistani soil.

At the end of their trip to Pakistan, Afghan officials during a press conference in Kabul said Pakistan has agreed to take “practical steps” against the information provided to them, but since then no indication has been seen.
