The ministry of interior affairs has asked the people to cooperate with the Afghan National Police-ANP- for the betterment of the security situation.

MoI spokesman Sideeq Siddequi said during a consultative workshop on development of civilian policing model that betterment of security situation was linked to public cooperation.

He expressed Pakistan’s government and spy agencies were trying to weaken Afghanistan’s security institution, that’s why people’s cooperation to police was essential.

“Pakistan has never wanted Afghanistan to have security and defense institutions,” Siddequi said. “It was rather the main condition of Pakistan in 2001 that Afghanistan should not security and defense institutions.”

If people didn’t cooperate with police, the police would never be able to provide security, said General Hamayon Aini, head of Police-e-Mardumi, a newly established police unit, a model of community policing.

He also urged the police to have good behavior with the citizens and gain public trust.
