The distribution process of the electronic ID cards is stopped due to political issues, a government official said.

There are still disputes and differences between the President and the Chief Executive over the distribution process of the electronic ID cards, a spokesman for the Afghanistan’s Chief Executive said on Monday.

“There is no technical problem to delay the distribution process of the electronic ID cards, it is a political issue now, this is not an issue between the President and the Chief Executive, it belongs to all the people of Afghanistan,” Jawid Faisal deputy spokesperson of the CEO said.

CEO Abdullah Abdullah also did not mention anything about the electronic ID card at the minister’s council who was earlier promised to kick the process off at the Independence Day of Afghanistan.

“The process is stopped, it is not in favor of anyone, there are still issues over this process,” Faisal added.

Afghanistan Minister’s Council decided to commence the distribution process of the e-ID cards on Aug 19, but President Ghani delayed the process saying there are still technical issues.

This comes as the President himself approved the law on the initial days after he assumed the chair, but he is regretting now.

On the other hand Afghans criticize Chief Executive Abdullah for being not able to implement his decisions.
