Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has approved in principle the security plan for Kabul city, the Presidential Palace said in a press release.

The press release released by Presidential Palace (ARG) stated that President Ghani has instructed security officials to further work on the security plan for the betterment of situation in the capital.

The high level security officials have also submitted their plans for the security of Kabul city.

Both Ministries of Defense and Interior said the security plan will be finalized in different categories and in three stages in the vulnerable parts of Kabul city.

“The security plan prepared by the Ministry of Interior and will be implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Defense and National Directorate of Security. It will have many good achievements,” said Dawlat Waziri, the Spokesman of MoD.

The spokesman of interior ministry, Nasrat Rahimi also said, “The security plan approved by the President is scheduled to be implemented in seven priorities, 52 categories and three stages in vulnerable parts of the Kabul.”

However, military analysts expressed pessimism over the implementation of the security plan.

“Identifying those who help enemies is very essential and security forces should further strengthening in this part,” said Muhammad Gul Mujahed, former military officer.

The roll-out of the new Kabul security plan was announced at the Government Media Information Centre (GMIC) on 14 August 2017.

The plan has been presented as comprising various new or improved security measures for Kabul city, but many had actually already been discussed or had been waiting to be implemented or had already been in use for long time.
