President’s decree on formation of Electoral Reforms Commission to be signed in coming days

Deputy spokesman of the executive office said Wednesday that President’s decree on formation of Electoral Reforms Commission will be signed in the coming days.

It was scheduled that President’s decree signed last Wednesday to form an electoral reforms commission.

But now deputy spokesman of the executive office says according to decision of meetings between President Ghani and the chief of executive officer the decree will be signed in the near future; while there are rumors the decree would be signed up to the next two days.

“We can say President’s decree would be signed in the coming days.” Jawid Faisal, deputy spokesman of the executive office said.

Meanwhile, a number of civil institutions that work in electoral sector criticized delay in formation of the electoral reforms commission.

Sidiqullah Tawhidi, member of civil institution network for consolidation of electoral process said, “Unfortunately, the main reasons for not signing the decree by the national unity government is in confusion. The commission should be signed as soon as it’s possible, otherwise it would led to many problems in the upcoming election.”

It seems that the executive office is also discontent from delay in signing the decree to from electoral reforms commission.

“We are fully prepared and according to the agreement made between the two leaders, President Ghani should soon issue a decree. But the commission will be formed 100 percent.” Faisal added.

Afghanistan Presidential Citadel declined to comment about the issue.
