At least two civilians were killed when an airstrike targeted a wedding ceremony in Kabul’s Qarabagh district on Monday night, officials said.

According to Qarabagh District Governor, Abdul Sami Sharifi, the incident happened when guests opened fire into the air, celebrating wedding ceremony in Jarchi area of the district.

The NATO forces reportedly mistook the gunfire for an attack against them and bombed the area.

Sharifi said that at least three people were also injured in the airstrike, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

The U.S. forces in Afghanistan have not immediately commented in regard.

This comes a week after U.S. military vowed to probe an airstrike that killed at least 10 civilians in Logar province.
