Afghanistan’s cricket star, Rashid Khan, has recovered fully from injury and is set to play in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland starting this Friday in Sharjah.

Khan last played competitive cricket against South Africa during the ODI World Cup in November 2023, when he picked up a back injury.

“The plan is to represent the country in the upcoming series (T20I against Ireland) and the training has been underway and today was the second day and thankfully it went well and I hope that the following few days will also be well so that I can wear the national jersey again and continue to do well for my country,” Rashid said while speaking to Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

He also plans to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which will commence on March 22.

The IPL is preceding the T20 World Cup that will start on June 1 and Rashid Khan feels that playing in the IPL will certainly help him and his other teammates to do well in the mega event.

“The good thing is most of our players will be playing IPL and it will be good preparation for the World Cup and we will also keep in touch with those who are not there (in the IPL) to continue working hard in this period,” the spin bowler added.
