The residents of insecure provinces expressed dissatisfaction with the Afghan military offensives, saying the operations are costly and not consequent.

“We see operation is underway in different districts of Helmand and Kandahar provinces but has not positive results,” said a resident of Helmand.

“The operations of Afghan army are very costly and less consequent, and we urge the government to use more of air forces,” said another resident of Helmand.

Following the matter,  a resident of northern Baghlan province said the operations are not significant because ” we do not see any development in the fight against the Taliban.”

The Defense Ministry; however, stressed it has recently launched over 100 offensives in restive parts of the country, particularly in Helmand, Kunduz, Baghlan and Takhar provinces which were very effective.

“We have significant achievements in Baghlan, Kunduz and Takhar provinces. Most parts have been cleared of Taliban but we are assorting the lost parts to recapture it,” said the Defense Ministry Spokesman, Dawlat Waziri.

This comes as currently nine of 400 districts are under control of the Taliban.
