Russia has voiced concern over presence of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group in Afghanistan.

President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with Afghanistan former President Hamid Karzai said that beside serious concerns of Taliban, now Moscow concerns over Daesh Presence in more than 25 provinces of the Afghanistan.

In the meantime, Karzai believes the expansion of Islamic State in Afghanistan would not be possible “without a foreign hand, without a foreign backing”.

Karzai added that the growing presence of Islamic State (IS) group in Afghanistan would threaten neighboring China and Russia if they receive “foreign backing”.

Earlier, the representatives from China, Russia and India held a high-level meeting in New Delhi to discuss latest political developments in Afghanistan.

The Islamic State (IS) group, also known by an Arabic acronym, Daesh, has gained a toehold in Afghanistan, although with the loss in a drone strike of its most prominent and recently appointed commander, Rauf Khadem, that toehold is looking precarious.
