S. Arabia Wants To Remove Impediments of Peace negotiations between Afghanistan-Taliban

Saudi Arabia is seriously trying to remove fundamental impediments for Afghanistan peace negotiations with Taliban, said ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Kabul.

Saudi Arabia ambassador to Kabul, Mesfer Abdulrahman Al-Ghaseb is said to consider his country’s position against Afghanistan as brotherly.

“We hope that peace will come to this country for always and we are trying to remove impediments for peace talks with Taliban in cooperation with Afghanistan.” Al-Ghaseb said.

The Saudi Ambassador promised that his country would spare no effort to cooperate in strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with Afghan officials on construction of a major center for religious training in the coming years in Kabul.

Saudi Arabia ambassador added that besides religious training, anti-terrorism training will also be taught in this center.

Saudi Arabia has exterted a strong influence on Afghanistan, and was one of the major provider of funds to the mujahideen fighters against the Soviets. Saudi Arabia was also the second of only three countries to recognize the Taliban government, extending official recognition on 26 May 1997.
