President Ashraf Ghani during a scientific and research seminar in Kabul said up to five million tourists could visit  the country once Afghanistan becomes free from terrorism.

Ghani has assured that Afghan people will never allow terrorist activities return the country to the past.

“We need to see tourism as a tool against terrorism. You may believe that terrorism creates hurdles for tourists. tourism prevents terrorism,” President Ghani said.

In the meantime, the acting minister of information and technology who organized to find ways to develop Afghanistan’s tourism industry said, “Terrorist incidents damaged the tourism industry and Afghanistan could have been a best country for tourism if we had no terrorism.”

This comes as the Taliban group has previously had a message for foreign tourists who come to Afghanistan, especially if they are from any of the 50 countries that are part of the NATO-led coalition supporting the government: Big mistake.

“It is part of our war strategy to target any foreign citizen whose country has a military presence in Afghanistan and enters our country without permission from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” said Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the insurgents in northern and eastern Afghanistan, reached by telephone at an undisclosed location.
