Senate: Afghan Nation Responsible to Decide About Durand Line

The Upper House of Parliament-Senate called the Durand Line a “Cancer gland and slaughterhouse” for Afghan people, Citing the nation is responsible to decide about this issue.

“Recognizing the Durand Line official is ignorant and silly and is not acceptable for Afghan people. People would not allow this line to be official,” Fazlul Hadi Muslimyar, chairman of Senate said in reaction to MP, Latif Pedram’s remarks.

Senator Gul Ahmad Azami also said, “The Durand line is a cancer gland and the issue should be solved in an international session with an international monitoring.”

Latif Pedra, representative of Parliament in response to Muslimyar’s remarks said, “I am not a wing to be shaken with a wind or storm. I am steadfast in the way of people’s ideals.”

Meanwhile, a number of Senators also expressed concern over Russia’s interventions and cooperation with insurgent groups.

“Russia publicly interferes in affairs and no measures have been taken,” said Senator Muhammad Hasan Hotak.

Afghan Senators stressed that national gathering and international monitoring is not the only solution for problems of the Durand Line.
