A number of Afghan Senators said joining of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in peace process is a good step, but he should apologize from the nation for killing of innocent people.

Senators emphasized that the Hezb-e Islami party must make its programs and plans clear that Afghan people can be aware of its role in solving the challenges.

Senator Zulmay Zabuli said, “We welcome Mr. Hekmatyar, but the position of the Hezb- Islami is not clear so far. The party should aplogize from Afghans and specify its programs.”

Senator Anarguli Hunaryar said, “We welcome joining of Hekmatyar in peace process and it is a good step. Other opposition groups should accept the Afghan peace process the same as this party.”

Afghan Senators stressed the International Community should have honest cooperation in peace talks that the government can give a positive result.

Senator Sheer Muhammad Akhund Zada said, “If the United Nations honestly wants to provide peace in Afghanistan, it should facilitate peace talks with other opposition groups.”

Chairman of the Upper House of Parliament, Fazlul Hadi Muslimyar also considered the joining of Hezb-e Islami party an effective step for the stability of the country. “The Senate House welcomes Hekmatyar and hopes other opposition groups lay down their weapons and follow their political wills through peace.”

Senators noted that simultanously with peace talks, serious securiy measures should also be taken for the possible terrorist attacks and use any options for their elimination.
