Afghan Senators on Tuesday accused the National Unity Government (NUG) of failing to hold election, citing the leaders of NUG even cannot hold the parliamentary election.

The Senate House are said to consider that the leaders of National Unity Government are the main factors of crisis in the country.

Senators say that the delay in election drags the country further into crisis, but unfortunately the NUG leaders have no intention to hold the election.

They urged the National Unity Government to specify the date of Parliamentary election; otherwise people’s disbelief to government become more.

“The National Unity Government leaders functions are dangerous than Taliban, they themselves creating crisis,” said Senator Nadir Baloch.

“If we do not press the government, the delay for holding Parliamentary election continues. Delay in Parliamentary election is the death of democracy,” said Senator Gul Ahmad Azimi.

Meanwhile, a number of Senators expressed concerns over the formation of selecting committee of election commission; emphasizing that professional people must be appointed in this committee.

“We demand the government to appoint impartial and efficient people for this committee,” said Senator Fazya Sadat.

The Parliamentary election and provincial councils were scheduled to be held in the first season of the current year but due to political bargaining between NUG leaders the process delayed.
