Senators Reiterate Cancellation of e-ID Cards Office’s Exam

Afghan Senators reiterated cancellation of the e-ID Cards Office’s recruitment exam which was held by the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IRACSC) weeks ago.

 Impeaching the heads of IRACSC and the Biometric Identity Cards Issuing Authority (BICIA) on Tuesday at Meshrano Jirga (Upper House), a number of Senators said that the exam had lacked having access both Pashto and Persian official languages and it should be cancelled.

“The issue of national languages in the exam was very important, unfortunately there was no questions in Pashto language and most of the Pashtun participants did not understand the questions in Persian; therefore, it should be cancelled,” said Senator Sher Mohammd Akhundzada.

Akhundzada added the fairness should be there in such national processes and the questions should be in both languages, so the participants do not face any difficulties.

The Parliament’s Upper House Speaker, Fazl Hadi Muslimyar stressed that the Administrative Reforms Commission should consider the issue of having access to both official languages particularly in provincial exams.

However, the head of Administrative Reforms Commission, Nader Naderi said that there was lack of time to consider the questions in Pashto language as well but he emphasized the commission will take the issue seriously in future exams.  

More than 6,000 people voluntarily participated from 33 provinces in the exam for 492 posts at the e-ID Cards Office.

This comes as previously the Senators described the exam unfair and non-transparent, urged its revocation.
