A number of Afghan Senators at the Upper House of Parliament emphasized on the U.S. and NATO honest cooperation with Afghanistan, and measures against Pakistan’s interventions in Afghan affairs.

Afghan Senators called the current situation alarming, saying the government should take practical steps to prevent insurgent groups.

Senator Shir Muhammad Akhund Zada said, “the United States and NATO can prevent Pakistan’s interventions if they want, even Gen. Nicholson can do it by a phone call to Pakistani officials. The situation must change; otherwise Afghan people will be victims of this imposed war.”

Senator Jumauddin Geyanwall said, “if NATO stand by its commitments, they should focus more on Afghanistan’s border issues.”

Senator Zulmay Zabuli said, “we don’t have a minister to lead the ongoing war-season. We have acting defense minister and army chief of staff, who do not have the authority to take practical measures.”

Chairman of the Upper House, Fazl Hadi Muslimyar declared the terrorist groups seem to have big plans in the ongoing war-season and the government must consider new strategy against their possible attacks. “The ‘Mansouri’ operation launched by groups deteriorates the security situation. Government is obliged to target their plans and prevent causalities. We are supporting our military.”
