Spanta: Afghanistan ranks among top terrorist-invaded countries

Afghanistan former national security advisor says that Afghanistan is among those countries which 80 percent of terrorist attacks carry out in it.

Rangin Dad Far Spanta, Former national security advisor declared that Afghanistan, Iraq and Nigeria are among the top terrorist-invaded countries which most of terrorist attacks carry out by terrorist groups such Taliban, Daesh groups.

Spanata at the Fourth Security Council Summit in Herat emphasized that the Islamic countries are the greatest and historical supporters of terrorism.

“One of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries supports terrorists and placed terrorist havens in its country,” Rangin Dad Far Spanta said.

While more than 60 per cent of the attacks reportedly occurred in five countries, Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria, the increase in total fatalities was, partly, a result of certain exceptionally lethal attacks in 2014.

Afghanistan became the hotbed of Islamic terror activities in the mid-1990s. With the radical Taliban government establishing control, several radical Islamic terror organizations used Afghanistan as their training and operational base.

Al Qaeda was the broad umbrella organization that recruited terrorists from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia and around the world, training them in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Some of the terrorist groups still operating in the region include Al Qaeda, Al-Jihad, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Islamic Group, Armed Islamic Group, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.
