Strategy-Action Plan Bring Hopes for Voiceless-Powerless Women: Elzira

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs on Monday launched a National strategy and action plan in Kabul to eliminate violence against women girls, amid 87 percent of Afghan women are facing physical and gender violence across the country.

Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish said, “No significant and fundamental changes made to decrease violence against women in Afghanistan, 87 percent of Afghan women are being physically or from gender perspective violated.”

Meanwhile Minister of Women affairs Dilbar Nazari said, “Violence against women is in rise, therefore we have launched a new strategy to decrease the level of violence against women in Afghanistan.”

Country Representative of UN women in Afghanistan Elzira Sagynbaeva urged we are launching two strategy- Action plan to decrease violence against women and girls in Afghanistan with Afghan Government.

She said, “We demand the Government of Afghanistan to launch the strategy and action plan, and this is the step which must bring much more hope to women and girls of Afghanistan specially those who are voiceless and powerless and the hope the state is on their side, to ensure full access to justice to stop impunity, of the perpetrators and prosecute offenders, to provide protection and services for survivals of violence,”

Law on elimination of violence against Women, establishing of special office in athorney General office are counted as the two concrete steps were taken by the National Unity Government of Afghanistan for women.
