Afghanistan High Office of Oversight and Anti-Corruption says that the lack of commercial transaction recording system, and lack of states and assets recording system have caused a number of senior government officials to register falls information in their assets registration forms.

“The exact issue of assets are very complex and complicated. Due to the lack of information system and an exact information source, we cannot records the assets,” said Abdul Qahar Farakh seyar.

Corruption constitutes a serious threat to Afghanistan’s nation-building and development agenda. Over the years, it has increased dramatically and has emerged as one the biggest challenges facing the country’s reconstruction efforts and strengthening national and sub-national governance.

Meanwhile, a number of National Assembly members are said to believe that the missing money have been gone and if the government wants to seriously combat against the corruption, it needs to appoint anti-corruption figures.

“I think, according to the law, every government officials should record their assets and those who not agree with this issue should be introduced to people through presses,” said Mirdad Nejrabi, member of parliament.

The endemic problem of corruption in Afghanistan is by no means a new subject. Corruption has been widespread and widely debated in a war-ravaged country that remains in turmoil.

The Afghan government took some steps against corruption; however, it remains in the slogans only. President Ghani’s words against corruption in the conference of donor countries for Afghanistan, to a large extent, were just for attracting assistance.
