Suicide Bomber Hits Elders Gathering In Nangarhar

On Monday a suicide attacker targeted a gathering of tribal elders of Pacheragam district in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of eastern Nangarhar.

Tribal elders had gathered in Khales Ba Ba area to discuss collecting aids to displaced people of the district and paving the way for Afghan security forces to launch operation against the insurgent groups when the explosion occurred.

According to the provincial governor spokesman at least six people were killed and seven others were wounded as a result of the incident.

Releasing the bomber picture along with a statement, the Islamic State (IS) also known as Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack.

The statement said that 15 people were killed and 25 others were wounded.

Jalalabad is the capital of Nangarhar province, where the Taliban and Islamic State militants are actively operating in most of its districts and usually carry out high-profile attacks against the Afghan security forces.
