The Taliban called on India on Sunday to stop giving lethal military equipment to the Afghan government.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Zabihullah Mujahid the main spokesman for the Taliban “strongly” condemns India’s military aid to Afghanistan and calling it a “clear hostility”.

“If anyone wishes to strengthen the Kabul stooge administration with military aid during occupation, this cannot be interpreted as anything other than enmity with the Afghans and shall arouse hatred of the people of Afghanistan,” the statement said.

Taliban accused Afghan forces of using Indian attack helicopters to destroy a key bridge during recent fighting in the volatile northern Kunduz province.

India recently transferred four Russian-made Mi-25 attack helicopters to boost the Afghan Air Force’s ability to assist ground troops fighting Taliban insurgents, and it trains hundreds of Afghan soldiers each year in its military academy.

Recently the Afghan National Army Chief of Staff General Qadam Shah Shaheem visited India to meet the country’s defence officials to discuss more military aid to Afghanistan.

According to the reports the Indian authorities have responded positively towards the latest wish list of weaponry and military equipment handed over by Afghan official.

India has been the biggest supporter of Afghan government in the region that has contributed to the reconstruction of Afghanistan though many projects including the Afghan-India Friendship Dam in Herat, Chabahar port project, construction of the Afghan Parliament building, renovation of Store Palace and many more projects across the country.
