Taliban Deputy District Governor Arrested During Military Raid in Ghazni
“Yesterday, we had a joint operation in Waghez and as a result we arrested Mawlawi Sayed Ahmad also known as Mawlawi Haidari, the Taliban’s shadow deputy district governor, with three suspects from the battlefield,” provincial police chief Mohammad Zaman Khowsti said.
According to the police official, at least seven insurgents were killed and 15 others wounded during the military operation under the name of “Sultan”.
In addition, provincial police chief claimed that Taliban have been defeated in the province and military operations are underway to either kill or push the militants back from the province.
Ghazni is among the volatile provinces in central-east part of the country where Taliban controls or have a huge presence in some of its districts.
