A shadow-governor of the Taliban for Herat province has been killed along with a senior Taliban Quetta Shura member and 6 other militants in the western province, security sources said.

National Directorate of Security (NDS)—Afghanistan’s intelligence agency—directorate in Herat province declared Tuesday that the shadow-governor named Abdul Rahman Nika had direct links with Taliban’s senior leaders.

Hasib Siddiqui, spokesman of Herat NDS Directorate, said the killed militants had plotted to attack regional security conference which was going to be held this Friday.

He added the eliminated insurgents were also involved in kidnapping of Indian engineers and serial killings.

However, the Taliban are yet to comment in this regard.
