Taliban Insists Amendment of Constitution as a Pre-condition for Peace Talks

Taliban insurgents are asking amendment of Afghan constitution and key institutions in NUG including NDS & Ministry of Information & culture as a pre-condition for peace talks, sources say.

Javid Kohistani, a military expert speaking with Ariana News said,” Obviously negotiations are ongoing between Taliban insurgents and the government, Taliban is asking amendment of the Constitution and having participation in the government of Afghanistan”.

These statements come after a reliable source in Afghanistan Presidential ARG told Ariana News that there are no pre-conditions from both Taliban and the government sides.

Afghanistan constitution has been a red-line for the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban during the last 13 years while rumors of peace negotiations have been raised.

Bari Salam who is a political expert says,” We have no problem with Taliban, we can accept Taliban as Afghan citizens, but we are against Taliban extremist ideology negating others”.

Earlier Afghan government announced that there are no pre-conditions set for peace talks.

The government is optimistic about Afghan-Pakistan relations; even President Ghani and the CE of Afghanistan announced that peace negotiation with Taliban set to begin soon and it is closer now than ever.
