Taliban Seizes Ghor’s Tiorah District Hours After Capturing Kohistan in Faryab

The Taliban insurgents have taken control of Tiorah district of central Ghor province, following the capture of Kohistan district of Faryab in north of Afghanistan, local officials said Sunday.

Toirah district was seized by the Taliban on Sunday morning, said the Provincial Governor’s Spokesman, Abdulhai Khatibi.

The provincial police commander  who was near Toirah district also confirmed the collapse.

Meanwhile, a government source on condition of anonymity told Ariana News that since last two days more than 300 Taliban armed fighters have stormed into Tiorah district, through Helmand, Farah and Uruzgan provinces.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the clashes with Afghan security forces. 

This comes hours after the Taliban captured Kohistan district in Faryab province.
